Why We Started Impartial AI Tech

Impartial AI Tech was founded in 2024 by Drake Paulsen in Jacksonville, Florida. This is the Impartial AI Tech story: not a founding myth, but a plain account of why the company exists, what it set out to do differently, and the principles it was built on. The premise is simple. Take hard problems and return working software.

That sentence sounds obvious until you look at how often software work returns something else: a promising demo, a slide deck, a prototype that cannot survive contact with real data. The company was started to be accountable for the harder and more valuable thing, which is a system that actually runs.

The problem we were built to solve

There is a persistent gap in how software gets delivered. Ideas are cheap to demonstrate and expensive to run in production. A great deal of effort in the industry goes into the demonstration, the pitch, the proof of concept, and comparatively less into the unglamorous work of making software correct, observable, and maintainable under real load. Clients pay for the first and need the second.

Impartial AI Tech was founded to close that gap on purpose. The decision was to build for production from the first commit, so that what a client receives is deployable software rather than something that still needs to be turned into deployable software. Everything else about how the company works follows from that starting point.

Building under our own name

A defining choice was to build under the company's own name rather than as an anonymous vendor operating behind other brands. That has practical consequences. It means the company's reputation is attached to what it ships, which is a strong incentive to ship things that work. It also means the people you talk to are the company, not a front for work done somewhere else.

This ties directly to how the engineering is staffed. Impartial AI Tech does not offshore and does not subcontract. The engineers who scope a project are the ones who build it, all in-timezone. Building under its own name and keeping the work in-house are two sides of the same commitment: the company stands behind the software because the company actually made it.

Proving it on our own products

The clearest way a company can show it believes in its own approach is to use it on products it owns and operates. Impartial AI Tech does exactly that. It builds its own products on the same engineering foundation it offers clients, which means it lives with the consequences of its choices rather than handing them off.

Those products span very different domains. Adaptive XI Intelligence is an AI-native LMS for K-12 schools and homeschool families, built to be FERPA, HIPAA, and COPPA compliant, which reported strong results in a 1,000-student pilot. SemplCRM is a CRM that relabels itself to the trade it serves. Freedom Bar Games is a realtime entertainment platform for venues. Novos Leaf is a HIPAA-compliant care platform for a regulated industry. Different problems, one engineering standard.

Rooted in Jacksonville

The company is based in Jacksonville, in Duval County in Northeast Florida, and that location is part of the story rather than an incidental detail. Working in-timezone with clients is easier to promise when you mean it, and being a named company in a real place is consistent with the broader commitment to accountability. Impartial AI Tech is a Jacksonville, Florida company, and it works like one.

Being rooted in one place also shapes the relationships. Client partnerships are handled by people who are reachable and answerable, not routed through layers that make it unclear who is responsible when something needs attention.

Impartiality in the name

The name is not decoration. Impartial AI Tech treats AI as a tool to be applied where it genuinely helps a problem, not as a fixed answer to be sold regardless of fit. Some problems call for a fine-tuned model or an intelligent agent; others are better served by conventional enterprise software or a well-built mobile app. Starting from the problem rather than from a predetermined solution is what impartiality means in practice, and it protects clients from paying for technology that does not serve them.

What we build and how we commit to it

For clients, the company builds custom AI systems such as fine-tuned models, RAG pipelines, and intelligent agents; enterprise software including platforms, APIs, and integrations; native mobile apps for iOS and Android; and growth marketing infrastructure. The unifying thread is not the technology but the standard: production-first, delivered under fixed scope.

Fixed scope means the price is known up front and does not creep. A focused MVP typically ships in six to twelve weeks, and a full platform generally lands in three to six months. These commitments are the practical form of the mission. Taking a hard problem seriously means being willing to say what it will cost and when it will be done, and then doing that.
